Please pray for Henry

Henry is a little boy who is the son of Patrick and Angela. I know of Henry because Lorree used to work for Patrick. Henry was diagnosed with Kostmann's Syndrome at 9 weeks of age. Now 7 years old he is in Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI to receive bone marrow transplant. It has now been just over two weeks and things are going fairly well. That is to say he is not having fun but he is still within the bounds of fairly normal recovery from having your immune system completely destroyed. Normal recovery is still difficult for Henry and his parents-normal can be very scary and very painful! Unfortunately the best case scenario has him there for approximately 85 more days.

His mother went up with Henry on March 11th. His father stayed here in Radford with their other two children but has been up there since the transplant. Patrick returned to Radford late last night.

During their time Angela has diligently kept up a blog of the hospital stay using the Caring Bridge blog service. Her blog can be viewed here. It is an interesting story of ups and downs. On a lighter note, this site was created by his classmates. On the site are several videos made for Henry. My favorite is “It’s Good to Be Bald!” in which the children give several reasons why it is good to be bald. It is funny what children think up and I could not help laughing the whole way through it.
