Charleston

I took Lorree to Charleston this weekend. We wanted to get away and since this weekend coincided with the anniversary of our meeting we decided to go for it. We traveled to Charlotte Thursday afternoon and after spending the night there completed the trip Friday morning. Monday we made the trip home.

I am not going to say much about Charlotte other than that it was nice to meet up with some of my friends down there. We had a nice evening.

In Charleston I got us a room at the Vendue Inn. I can not say enough good things about the place. The location was great, the people were great and the inn was a very nice clean place to stay. For the afternoon manager’s reception the wine was good and the appetizers delicious. I highly recommend staying here.

We parked the car when we got there and got it back out only when we left. On Saturday with Champaign bottle in hand we took a private carriage through the historic houses. Our guide was nice and we enjoyed the ride. Sunday we took a bicycle rickshaw to and from dinner which we loved. Both picked us up right at the hotel. Other than that we strolled where ever we wanted to go.

We ate at Wasabi, Magnolias, Charleston Crab House, High Cotton, 82 Queen, 39 Rue De Jean and Josephs. And we had drinks at Social, Aromas, Roof Top at the Vedue Inn, Fleet Landing, Cypress and the Blind Tiger Pub.

All of the restaurants were very good. I think that in Charleston it is hard to really go wrong but the best place for dinner was definitely High Cotton. It is a bit pricey but lots of great choices and very delicious food. I recommend 82 Queen for brunch. Next time I think we will definitely have dinner one night at Cypress.

All in all it was a great weekend. I hope to go back soon.

Not much else this trip. But yes some shopping and strolling around. We'll do more next time when we go for longer.
