The following is a snippet of an IM conversation I had with a friend. Their name has been changed to protect the not so innocent.
me: you are like constantly online but never available
MyFriend: the reason for my constant awayness is that they banned IM at work
MyFriend: so I have to remote desktop to my home machine to use it
MyFriend: so I'm usually around actually, but it marks me idle because I'm technically not "using" my computer

Does one really need IM access that bad? I mean, that is a lot of money in electricity being spent to leave that home PC on.
(Barry don't read this first sentence.) I would probably consider doing it if my company did not let us have IM. (Ok Barry, you can read now.) I use it periodically to ask friends for help when I am having trouble with something.
