To adopt or not to adopt, that is the question.

Last week while running Robert and I twice ran by this house where the dog there would bark at us as we ran by but did not come out and stayed at the house. This morning the dog came out to us and so I stopped to let her sniff me. I guess this constituted bonding because the dog followed us from that point on. Since we were going to be coming back by the house this did not bother us at first. But when we came back by she did not want to stop then either. There was a woman there waiting for a ride and so we stopped and asked if the dog was hers. She said it was a stray and she would be happy to see it go. (Robert and I are a little skeptical about this although we aren’t necessarily saying it was hers.) Anyway, having to get home we decided to let the dog follow us which it did very well.

Lorree and I have been talking about getting a dog for some time but had planned to wait until the spring. But now I am thinking of keeping this one. She, I think it is a she, is definitely a puppy although I am not sure how old. There is no collar but she looks healthy and does understand the command to sit albeit after repeating it a couple times. It looks like a husky, german shepherd something or other mix and is very friendly. Lorree is ok with keeping her in general but it is really up to me. I just don’t know.

The plan for now is to call the shelters and see what their procedures are. I am probably going to go ahead and take her to the vet today to get checked out. And then we’ll decide from there. I would not know where to begin to look for the owner. We’ll see.
