Calling all butterflies
Yesterday Ian’s Mimi, Lorree’s mom, was here and they decided to catch butterflies. Mimi caught one and put it in a clear plastic bag for safe keeping. A little while later, after much discussion, Lorree and I convinced Ian to reintroduce the butterfly into the wild. As far as we can tell it is doing well.
This morning Ian decided he was going to catch another butterfly. So before breakfast he picked up his bag and walked out the door. He stood just outside calling to the world “Butterfly, get on my bag” over and over again. Sadly this method did not yield the desired results.
After breakfast about mid morning he decided to go again. This time he walked to the end of the sidewalk where the butterfly bush is. He stretched his hands up towards the bush and called out “Butterfly, get in my hands” over and over again. Again, sadly this did not yield the desired result.
As I was about to head back to work after a short time of observing his butterfly catching technique he walked up to the bush, caught a butterfly and promptly put in his bag. He picked up the bag and beaming proudly brought it over towards me. As he walked the butterfly flew around the bag and found an opening in which to escape the bag. As it flew away Ian watched it and then looked at me with sadness.
Do not worry; he immediately headed back to the bush for another try.

Ian is so cute. I really loved seeing him at the lake. He is so much fun. Oh by the way my mom said that you and Lorree left two tubberware containers at the lake. She has brought them back and gave them to us. Would you like us to mail you the containers?
