I think I am ready
Yesterday I had a practice for the tri next week and completed all the distances with a little extra in each stage. It took me a while to figure out a good test course but it goes something like this. Hop in the car and take bicycle to the Blacksburg pool. Swim the distance. Hop on bicycle and take very very circuitous route home. Put on running shoes and run a seemingly random route back to Blacksburg pool. Hop in pool to cool down. Drive home happy. Since I could not sucker anyone else into this event it looks like I’ll be travelling alone for this one. I am really looking forward to the experience.
I watched the movie Friday Night Lights last night and found it to be a really interesting movie. It is a true story, mostly I guess, based on the a football season at a high school in Texas where football is king. What interested me was that it was as much, if not more, about the off field aspects of a football town as the play on the field. I think they struck a good balance of storytelling between the two worlds. Of course it is still a football movie so if you aren’t into that you probably still will not enjoy it. But if you don’t mind the aspect of the football side and enjoy watching an almost documentary feel about life in that kind of town you’ll enjoy it.

Best Wishes on your Tri!!!! You can Do It!
Congrats on your successful TRIal run, but I thought your philosophy was to not train...
trust me, I am not really breaking that tradition on this either.
[kris] Hey, we saw Friday Night Lights last night! I really liked it. Andy wasn't so keen on it -- I think he was just expecting something different.
Good luck on the tri!
