The healing power of Guinness

Last Tuesday while hanging around the gym I managed to hurt my back. It did not hurt right away but by the time I got home I had trouble getting out of the car. Fortunately it seemed to only be stabilizer muscles because I could still easily bend forward, back and to the side. As long as I did not turn my body I was fine. So I took it easy the rest of the week. Friday my back was still a little sore but was feeling pretty good. About mid day I bent over to take my shoe off and pain seared through my lower back. Ouch!!! The rest of the day I was uncomfortable no matter what I did even when not moving and sitting in positions that had been fine earlier in the week. I was worried. I went to the basketball celebration enduring the discomfort. When I came out I was going to head on home. Instead I decided to meet Jeff and Jamie for a drink. I figured I’d say hi have a beer and go home. Being St Patrick’s day I had to have Guinness. One drink turned into a couple and my back felt better and better as the night went on. As with all things they must end and I went home to sleep feeling good. Saturday morning I felt absolutely fine, no pain or discomfort at all. I even did a 14mi run with Barry. It must have been the Guinness.

I don't think Monica agrees with the healing powers of Guinness :)

That is because Monica does not drink enough Guinness. She stops too early in the healing process.

It definatley does not have healing powers or maybe it is because I combine it with other "medicine" that causes the problem.

ML - you should NEVER mix medications, Guinness straight up or with espresso is the only way to go. By the way, it dawned on me this weekend that I've never had a car bomb - probably why I'm still around after 40 odd years...
