The mothership
So I had to make my first trip up to DC to check in with the office. The main intent was for me to sit in on some kick-off meeting for a new project that I was to be working on. And while there meet a few people and go over my yearly evaluation. On this project would have been myself (in Blacksburg) and three other programmers in Florida, California and Ohio. I was looking forward to meeting all these people. As it turned out another project for the DoJ required a citizen so I got transferred to that project about a week before going up. Trip cancelled, heck no.
So I went up last Sunday and stayed until Wednesday. It was nice to meet the people that I have been trading emails with and to meet the people on my new project. I think it is good to check in once in awhile.
The other part is that it gave me a chance to visit with friends. I got in some good XBOX time and quality eating and drinking. On Tuesday we took advantage of restaurant week and headed into the city. It is one of those promotions where for a week all the restaurants in DC have meals for $30 which includes appetizer and dessert. So we picked a place and had a delicious dinner.
Hopefully I can avoid too many of these trips. :) On a particular bright note I found out that one of the larger contracts the company won was against Bering Point. GO ICFI!!!!
