DC Trip

First, thank you Monica for talking me into extending the deadline from 48 to 72 hours or I would owe several drinks and treats right now. At least I think I am slipping under the 72hrs from midnight of your return.

Last week I left for DC Wednesday night and came back Sunday morning. The purpose of the trip was twofold, visit friends and meet my new employer. There are a bunch of things I want to comment on but I try to avoid long posts so this will be short recap.

My good friend Brian found me work at his company ICF Consulting. Right now it is low paying monkey work but it gives me something to do and some income. Really I am hoping that it is a foot in the door to future high paying coding. The benefit right now is that I can do it from home and pretty much on my own timeframe. I just need to meet certain timelines. So I went to meet the people that I am working for and get initial instruction on the work. That seemed to go very well. I enjoyed meeting the people and got a good overall feeling of the place. There have already been whispers of real coding work. We’ll see.

I also got to visit with Brian, Annie, Eric and Beeker. (For those of you who went skiing the first three are the ones who came up there.) We grilled out two nights and went to Adams Morgan for dinner another night. It was very good to see them again.

We also wandered in to DC too view the cherry blossoms. They were truly wonderful to see. We spent about two hours strolling around enjoying the sights and sounds. The people were plenty and the weather was beautiful.

It was a good trip and I had a nice time getting out of town. Now I actually have to get some work done. :)

Congrats on the work! Hopefully more meaningful/lucrative tasks will come along.

Yes, I am wise, you should listen to me more often. I haven't seen you in FOREVER, I thought maybe one of those Russian women had you occupied the last couple of weeks.
